SIYI is a complete system, not a shelf of parts. Camera, air unit, ground unit and controller are designed to work as one chain — which is exactly where most builds go wrong. This page explains how the pieces connect before you order any of them.
How a SIYI system fits together
Four elements, and you need to decide on all of them:
- Gimbal camera — mounted on the aircraft, produces the video and responds to pointing commands
- Air unit — sits on the aircraft, carries video, control and MAVLink telemetry over the radio link
- Ground unit or controller — receives the video, sends control input. Either a separate ground unit feeding your own screen, or an all-in-one controller with a built-in display
- Flight controller connection — a UART cable from the gimbal to your autopilot so the camera can be commanded from the flight stack
The advantage of staying inside one ecosystem is that all of this is cabled and configured to work together. Mixing a SIYI gimbal with a third-party link is possible over Ethernet, but you take on the integration yourself.

Optical zoom is the number that matters. Hybrid and digital zoom figures look impressive but are upscaling — they enlarge the image without adding detail. If you need to read a serial number or identify a fault at distance, the optical figure is the real limit.
All models carry starlight-grade sensors with HDR, meaning usable colour video in low light rather than the noise most cameras produce at dusk.
ArduPilot and PX4 compatibility
Worth checking before you buy, because there is one exception people find out about too late.

The A2 mini is still a capable camera — it simply cannot be commanded through ArduPilot’s gimbal interface. If your workflow depends on autopilot-driven pointing, ROI tracking or mission-based camera control, choose one of the supported models. If you need a wide-angle FPV view with manual tilt, the A2 mini does that job well and cheaply.

All systems carry SBUS and PWM control, MAVLink telemetry and OSD alongside the video stream, and are CE and FCC certified. The practical choice is usually between the HM30 for range and a handheld unit for operational simplicity.
AI tracking
The SIYI AI Tracking Module adds onboard computer vision with 10 TOPS of computing power — object detection and continuous tracking without a ground operator holding the target manually.
In practice this covers tracking arbitrary objects, reading and following licence plates, identifying insulators on powerline inspection runs, and locking onto thermal signatures. Combined with flight-follow, the aircraft can hold a moving target while the operator concentrates on the mission rather than the camera.
By application
Powerline and infrastructure inspection
Optical zoom keeps the aircraft at a safe standoff from live conductors while still resolving detail. The ZR30 at 30× optical covers most transmission line work; the ZR10 suits distribution networks and closer inspection. AI tracking helps hold the target across a long span.
Security and perimeter surveillance
Identification range is the constraint, and starlight sensors extend the working day into dusk and night. The ZR30 paired with the HM30 gives long optical reach and a 20 km link — useful when the ground station cannot move.
Agriculture and field operations
The MK15 exists for this: one handheld unit with screen, control and video, rather than a laptop and a separate receiver in a field. Pair with the A8 mini on lighter platforms.
UGV and USV platforms
The same cameras and links work on ground vehicles and surface vessels. The A2 mini with IP67 rating and upside-down mounting suits exposed installations; larger pods handle observation from a moving platform.
Lightweight and FPV platforms
At 95 g the A8 mini brings 4K and three-axis stabilisation to airframes that cannot carry a full pod. For pure situational awareness the A2 mini is lighter and cheaper still.

About SIYI
SIYI Technology develops wireless HD image transmission, gimbal control and motor drive systems, camera imaging, control systems and AI algorithms for unmanned platforms. Frequently asked questions
Is A-Trix Group an official SIYI distributor?
Yes. A-Trix Group OÜ is an official SIYI distributor supplying the European market, with genuine hardware and manufacturer warranty.
ZR10 or ZR30 — which should I choose?
The ZR30 gives 30× optical zoom and 4K capture against the ZR10’s 10× optical and 2K. If you need identification at longer range or finer inspection detail, the ZR30. If you work at moderate standoff and want to save weight and cost, the ZR10.
Does the A2 mini work with ArduPilot?
No. ArduPilot supports the A8 mini, ZR10, ZR30, ZT6 and ZT30, but not the A2 mini. If you need autopilot-driven camera control, choose a supported model.
Do I need a SIYI link, or can I use my own?
The gimbals have Ethernet output and can connect to third-party devices, so you are not locked in. Staying inside the SIYI ecosystem means the cabling and configuration are already solved — outside it, integration is your responsibility.
What is the difference between optical and hybrid zoom?
Optical zoom moves lens elements and adds real detail. Hybrid and digital zoom enlarge the image electronically without adding information. Judge a camera by its optical figure.
HM30 or MK15?
The HM30 reaches up to 20 km and pairs an air unit with a ground unit, feeding your own display. The MK15 is a handheld controller with a built-in 5.5-inch touchscreen and around 3.5 km range — simpler in the field, shorter reach.
Can I buy without VAT?
Yes. Business customers with a valid EU VAT number registered outside Estonia are invoiced at 0% VAT under the reverse charge mechanism.
